Great to see the responses so far. We will be missing some of our regulars who will be fishing the Team Trail so we can use any volunteers that can make it.
The Kids fishing derby is only a couple of weeks away. If you have not registered your kids or grand kids click HERE for the registration and waiver form. This registration form and waiver needs to be turned into the office by May 10 to guarantee that your child will receive a new fishing pole and reel. The first 85 kids registered will receive the pole and reel. There will be registration at the event from 7:30 to 8:30 but with no guarantee of a pole and reel.
Here's hoping that the weather is good for everyone at this event. Clubbies who are planning to help out may want to bring a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the hooks for the kids.
The Kids Fishing Derby is this coming Saturday May 21. If you have children or grand children that you will be attending with and have not registered, you can Pre-Register by dropping your registration and waiver form off at the SC office (next to the pool near clubhouse) until 4 PM Monday May 16. After that you can bring it with you to the event and register. This event is always a big hit with the kids. We have a casting kids competition, raffle prizes, and EVERY child will receive a bag. The registration at the event starts at 7am and goes to 8am. We will have coffee and donuts in the morning and hot dogs for lunch. See you all there.
I will be fishing the Team Trail event on LBJ so I regrettably will miss this event. I have attended the last several kid fish events and I must say it is one of the most rewarding volunteer jobs ever. Thanks in advance for those that will be attending. God Bless.
Terry, can you send a club email about this? I think they have a meeting on Wednesday and will need a headcount for volunteers (Mark please correct me if I'm wrong).

Derek - I responded to Shelly Corso and told her that we had seven so far (by my count).....hopefully we get a few more volunteers. There is a brief meeting on Wednesday at 5:30 PM at the clubhouse to finalize everything. Friday evening we could use some volunteers to rig poles..
Mark, I have the stuff from TPWD still boxed up, but plan on putting it together. I will not be able to make the meeting, but will try and get the supplies up there somehow by Friday.

Got a call from Stow A way Marina this morning. I had ordered night crawlers and wax worms for bait for the Kid Fish event. Was informed that the bait company is all out of wax worms.
So I ordered "red worms" to replace the wax worms. These are small wiggly little guys.
Anyway, for those who are helping out on Saturday, lets be sure to portion out the bait sparingly as many kids will want to put whole night crawler on a hook. You might want to bring a pocket knife with you to cut bait....Also, based on what happened in a previous event, lets be sure and make it clear to the families that a fish must be caught and measured and recorded by an "official" to count.
Donuts and coffee will be served Saturday AM....Hot dogs for lunch.
I will be there along with my little lady angler. I know I missed the cutoff for pre-registration but she's already got 3 rods and reels so we don't really need another.
