Stopped by the new Academy store in the Woodlands and talked to Rick Prichard. Rick says there will be a great Grand Opening sell on Friday May 13. I am not a hunter but the price makes me think I should buy one. They will have over 100 Stevens Savage 270 rifles with synthetic stocks for around $ 169. Thought I would pass this on for those that need a rifle at a good price. Also he said there Quantum baitcasting reel regular $ 89 was going to be $ 49.

Terry, do you know what the max number of those rifles one person can purchase at a time?

Ha, No! It is a really good deal and my brother would like to have several to have at his ranch for when people come to go deer hunting.  That way they dont have to worry about bringing guns with them.

I'll be at RC during that time... man that's a good deal. Too bad they don't have a deal going on for a shotgun... I could use a good 12 ga pump.

That Savage is a great shooting gun. We bought one for my son Matt a few years ago and it did not disappoint. Very accurate, and it stayed that way.

Stopped by the "New" Academy and was very impressed. Puts the Conro store to shame. I did pick up 2 of the Quantum reels (CDR1060cx "Code Red"). They are 10 +1 bearing reels and for $39.00 is a steal. I already have a couple of these reels and they are smooth reels. Only bad thing about getting more reels is now I need a couple more rods.

Didn't get to harrass Rick today. Apparently he is AWOL today according to his employees.
