Wind blowing across this point at about a rate of what feels like 50 mph, I cast a shallow diving crank up next to the shore and my spool spins out a couple of extra loops of line...I have one foot on the trolling motor to hold us...knees bent to maintain a stable balance and head down clearing out this very minor backlash....then I hear. "Did you get that one?"..."what?" I reply...."Did you get that one...a huge fish just exploded on your crankbait!!"...."huh?" I reply as I look up to where my crankbait was casted and see a swirl this size of a washtub and then follow my line as it was headed south down the shore...."oh crap!!"....I start to reel up the slack and finally get tension on the line and lift the rod tip to find a huge fish on ....I get to fight it for maybe 10 secs...then poof...gone.
Lets just say it sure made the rest of the day very fun...Jeff didnt let that die for one sec. "huh?"...."what?" was I I got the rest of the afternoon.
Always great to have those memorable moments. I know fishing with various club members provides those memorable opportunities. Sometimes we should just go fishin to go fishin versus tournament fishin. I know there are times I look for a back seater. Just ask Sean about the dude I picked up off the bank from Japan. Now that was a memorable fishing trip! I let him drive my boat too.
