just a reminder. the trip for the 18 year old boy with terminal cancer is coming up on the 9th of April. Can i get a head count of people who will be able to make it? I am not sure i will be able too make it. I have alot of medical procedures going on right now and a surgery or 2. Not sure how it will work out for me as far as making it to the thing. I might be able to make it but i am not sure. as of now so i am gonna say i wont be there. Gonna be out of Stow away marina. Not sure of arrival time but will find out and post in a little while. I know this is on a weekday, but there were some who said they could make it. Any pre fishing info would be great for this too so maybe we could put him on some good fish. Sorry i havent been keeping updated on this i have just had ALOT going on lately and havent had a chance to be on top of things like i should. Thanks guys yall have a great day!
I will try and get off that day if we do not have enough volunteers. I will pre-fish for sure and help with locating bass. I can tell you the bait and it is the watermelon red craw. I fished Bass N Bucks Sat. and got 16.77 lbs. My partner fished Sun. Ignition bass and he got over 17 lbs. Same bait and technique.
thanks guys. will pass your number on to PERRY POWELL if you dont mind? he is the guy with USSA that will be taking the boy. also he says he will get started about 7:30. he has to hook him up with a fishing license and the such.
I will be pulling double duty....I am taking a A&M student who fishes on the college team out on Conroe.....someone told him I knew what I was doing...poor bastard.
just got off the phone with PERRY, question? does anyone know a game warden or someone to call and find out about a special privalage fishing license or anything like that? i guess the people are from out of state and need licenses but are real poor and cant really afford them. we were wondering if they have a special pass for something like this. before i went serching the net for an answer i figured i would ask yall and see if anyone knew of anything. thanks guys. I guess it will be the boy, his mom, and his dad there so anyone who can help it would be greatly appriciated!
Not sure about special cases for fishing license but a day fishing license we can take care of out of pocket. I am good for at least $ 20 towards one. Do you know if they are coming from out of town and staying here ?

You need to let Perry know to have the young man set up to fish some beds. The full moon starts that day and I am sure we will find some hawgs on a bed or two.
they are coming from Michigan i believe and staying at MD anderson. he is having some tests done that week there. Perry says he is excited about fishing lake Conroe. He has been reading about the big fish caught there this year and cant wait. Thanks for offering to pay for his license yall. Gonna need 3 of them. Will pass that on to Perry! And i will make sure Perry has some Sight fishing gear rigged up!!
I donated my time as a boater for the Paralyzed Veterans of America (four years ago when they came to Lake Conroe). During our "kick-off" dinner the night before the tournament, it was announced that the TPWD had printed off complimentary fishing passes for all of the out-of-state veterans to be able to fish for that weekend.
From this...I called Mark Webb and left him a message today asking if it would be possible to accommodate these folks from Michigan. I will post any information that I receive from Mark regarding fishing passes for the three.
man Ron, that would be awesome. I know they would really appriciate it as well as Perry. I just found out i am having a surgery tuesday before the event so i wont be able to make it. I will see how i am feeling that day but pretty sure i wont be able to be there. Matt can i ask you too take care of Perry and the visitors for me and make sure they have what they need? I would owe ya one! If we cant get the passes from the TPWD then i am going to purchase one of the licenses for them. That should cover 3 of them! thanks guys for all the help here. I really appriciate it and so does Perry And the family!
Not to post hijack, but in reading all of the above posts, it goes to show that once again I am proud to be associated with such 1st class individuals that make a 1st class club!

I will be at the ramp 7 am and ready to go. Like I said I am also taking a kid from college out....if need be he has his own boat and I can tell him to bring his and do a little fishing on his own before I take him out later in the day. That way my boat will be free to ride the folks around in.
I just received a TPWD contact for some "comped" licenses from Mark Webb.
His name is Ken Kerzowski (512-389-4591)
I tried to reach him by phone about 10 minutes ago, but couldn't get through. My break is about over...and I am going to be back with the kids until the end of the day. I will try again to reach him after 4:30 today, but if anyone has some time available, and would like to try to get in touch with Ken-feel free to call. I think that it would be OK to tell him that we got his # from Mark Webb.
I spoke to Ken and he is going to check and get back to me. He will have to check with his supervisor. He said that they do this for some events like the PVA but is unsure if this will qualify. I gave him the web site to the USSA in case they need to verify that this is a real organization. http://www.childwish.com.
I will keep everyone informed.

Thanks
Dee

On April the 9th the Seven Coves Bass Club in conjunction with the USSA (United Special Sportsman Alliance) will host a 18 year old
terminally ill cancer patient to a days fishing on LakeConroe. Because the family is from out of state and do not have the means
to purchase fishing licenses we are requesting an exemption, requiring a fishing license, for the young man and his parents for the day.
Mark Webb, from TPWD, was informed of this request and referred us to this office.
Please feel free to contact me for any reason concerning this matter.
Man guys yall rock!!!! I had some deep injections done in my neck this morning and have been kinda outta it all day, so i wasnt able to do much. I GREATLY appriciate all yall have done here. This is awesome. I did speak with the guy doing my elbow surgery and he said i should be able to come to the event i just cant do much. my arm will be outta commision. I will be bringing a boat but i may need help launching it if yall dont mind helping. Also i wasnt able to get ahold of Vince at stowaway marina today either. I dont see that being a problem tho. He is a good dude and told me last time anytime he could help to call him. Thanks again guys, what yall have done is above and beyond!!! And thanks for volunteering JEFF. thats kewl!
Big Problem guys! Perry powell called me and left me a message yesterday saying that they had to change the fishing trip to Wendsday due to testing schedules at the hospitals for him. I know this is last minute and i am sorry. I also know that this wont work out for most of yall and that yall wont be able to do it. I understand and i guess they will have to understand also. Wish they would have known earlier. I know for a fact i wont be able to make it. i am having surgery the day before and definatly will now be able to make it to it. Anyone who can still make it that would be great but if you cant then i am sure noone will blame you. Sorry guys, this one was outta my control! I will talk to Perry later today and find out more. he just left me a message yesterday letting me know so i wanted yall to know as soon as possible!
i know Matt i am really sorry. If you cant make it then you cant make it. It is outta our control. i already told perry he might be flying solo on this one! I feel bad for the boy. Perry said he is very upset about it! i ahte it for him but i just dont know what too do!
We rearranged our schedule. I can be there Wed morning to haul parents or whatever. I have had some spinnerbait fish but don't know if they will be around with this last blast of cool weather.
I can go out tomorrow and see if they are around after it warms up a little.
I will be there at 7AM

Unless something changes I have a meeting on Wed. The fish I have been on have been all shallow and I mean shallow. Shad have moved up into the coves all along the banks. I would start out with a zoom white horny toad frog or white buzz bait or a pop r. Run the banks looking for shad movement. The Stow-A-Way cove is a good place to start. Once the sun gets up use a white or watermelon fluke in the shallows. I think the shallow bite will still be on even thou we have had cool weather. I have also caught them on jerk baits in bass colors and small shad colored shallow crankbaits working rocks. The flat we fished last year by no name cove should hold fish as well. Fish the willows there and any grass you see. Wish I could join yall but work calls. I hate when that happens.
I received the fishing license exemption yesterday in the mail. I emailed TPWD this morning to see if they will fax me an addendum to it and change the date to the 8th. Hopfully they can. If not I will get some money to pay for the license ($15.00 for a non-resident 1 day)
Just recieved an updated exemption so the license issue is taken care of.
Matt I will call you this afternoon on my way home from work, maybe we can meet at Midway. There is a Shell and a Exxon station there and it is about half way between Conroe and Cleveland.
I was able to rearrange my schedule to take tomorrow off instead of Thursday so I will still be there, and will have the boat in the water by 7:00 a.m., as planed.
just got back from my surgery. talked to the dr and he said i could go just have to watch what i do. thanks everyone for steppin up to the plate. my pride for being member of this club is beaming! Ron if you want i can come pick up those licenses from your house and save matt a trip way out here. give me a call i am at the house. 936-264 4658. And thanks Tracy. please feel free to come out if ya got time, would love to have your help!!
THX for letting me help out today guys!!! I had a great time in the boat with his mom. I wish the weather would have been a little more cooperative with us today!!!
Wanted to give ya'll an atta-boy and girl for what ya'll did today. I wish I could have helped but with slow business lately I had to be out making some bucks while the sun shines. I helped with Will's day on the lake and it was a good feeling.
Again, pat yourselves on the back. Ya'll deserve it.

Mom was talking to me throughout the day about his condition, I think me being a nurse helped, she confided. She was to the point of tears in the boat. They have been through Hell.
Thanks to all those members that stepped up and volunteered to help out with this important event. Sevencoves gives out blessings and that is why this club is so blessed. Amen.
