At the last meeting, Kevin Blackmer passed out some samples of Squincher, and he gave me more that I passed out at the Livingston Jelly Jar. Please use this post to document your reviews of the product. Consider taste, ease of use, and most importantly performance.
Background: Kevin saw Scott Martin using it/promoting it, and called Squincher to ask some questions, etc - long story short, he spoke with the Marketing Director about our club and they forwarded a sizeable amount of product for our club to try. They are potentially interested in becoming a club sponsor, and/or sponsoring the Fall Bass Classic. Squincher is different from other sports drinks in that it has less salt and more potassium.
It comes in several flavors (grape, strawberry lemonade, berry, orange, lemon-line), and delivery methods - it also comes regular, lite & sugar free. Here is a link to their website: http://www.sqwincher.com/
Please post comments/reviews and pics here. Thanks. (I am posting this for Kevin as he doesn't have ready access to the internet for the time being)
Taste: I really like the strawberry lemonade, lemonlime, and grape. I didn't try the berry or punch. I couldn't tell the difference in the sugar free, lite or regular taste. The sugar free wasn't bitter or anything.
I like the liquids because you don't have to wait on the sugary stuff to dissolve. ACtually I wouldn't wait for it to dissolve I just chugged the water with the sugar undissolved.
APparently it comes in pouches for making large batches etc, but for fishing I think the most convenient is the squirt bottle of sugar free. It has 24 servings and takes up verry little space. I just kept the squirt bottle in my boat cooler with the water bottles. The packets aren't quite as convenient in the boat.
THey really seemed to work. Terry and I used them on practice day - 95 degrees, little breeze, 9 hrs on the water and on tournament day, 102 degrees, little breeze 8 hrs on the water. Never felt dehydrated, no cramping etc, not even that night.
I typically drink Smart Water (water with electrolytes/no flavor/no sweetner, etc) and have great results. Squincher performs just as well. I would probably only switch if it was economical.
It has been hitting well over 100° working outside lately. The pouch liquid in fruit punch was extremely refreshing and tastes really good too. The kind in the squirt bottle that you add to a bottle of water has really good taste also. Both I've tried were fruit punch.
I used the bottle last Saturday, I think I was a bit heavy handed. I squeezed on the sides & prolly loaded 10 drinks worth into my water bottle. I topped that off with a quart of gatorade but I never had a cramp, which I've been getting severely lately.
Selfie to come (against my nature)
