I was able to go help out with this today and it was pretty cool to do!
We meet at the Scott's Ridge boat launch. The Hatchery truck was running about 45min. to a hour behind schedule, just simply because of the weather they had to drive thru coming from San Marcus. We knew we were up against the clock to be able to get the baby bass out in to the lake before the weather got bad. We were able to get the first load out (about 60,000)before the weather started changeing. Then the wind started to pick up pretty bad,(you will notice that in one of the pictures were my hair was flying around like crazy,LOL)then the white caps started to form. So we decieded that we would have to let the rest of the babies out at the ramp because of the conditions. We will get the rest of the fish (around 40,000) in about 2 weeks or so,and maybe we can spread them out a little better. i got to meet Mark and Bill from the TP&W,and Blake Kellum from the SJRA. Funny thing is i know Blake from our younger years of playing golf at the Conroe Country Club. Im glad i got to represent the SCBC at this event for us.
Cool! And ditto Derek..thanks a bunch Brad for representing the club. I would love to have helped too, but had to get the kiddo graduated from college. Now...which ramp did y'all release all the extras? At the SJRA ramp? Wonder if we should go put a little extra cover out for em.
