Take your launch money elsewhere. Terry had a run-in at Midway this morning. The owner, I think his name is 'Mr. Winters' has always been kind of a nucklehead. Now he's a mean knucklehead. Anyway, we've patronized Midway for MANY years, but Terry vowed that he made his last donation this morning.
Yesterday he didn't get there until 7AM, and the office wasn't open. THere was a pay box, but Terry only had a $20. He expected the store to be open. he put a note in the box that said he would pay when he got back to the ramp.
He fished until 6P, and then got back and got everything all packed away for the ride back to the farm, and then noticed that the office was still not open, so he decided to bring the fee/exact change this morning. When he showed up at the ramp this morning at 6:30 AM, Mr Winter chased him down to the ramp in his yellow jeep. He told Terry that he watched him pack up and leave yesterday and that he called the sheriff yesterday and that (pointing to Terry's boat) "bass fishermen are the worst about skipping out on payment". And that it was the same as shoplifting. Whatever. Terry started to just give him the $5 and leave, but instead gave him the $10 for two days and told him it was the last dime he would ever see from us. Mr Winter in turn said that he didn't give a rat's a$$.
Maybe he would give a rat's a$$ if he didn't collect another dime from any bass anglers.
Midway is on the south side of the lake almost straight across from Jones Branch. The thing is this guy made lots of money for years due to the dishonest bass fisherman. Anglers Choice team and couples, Bass-n-Bucks, Honey Hole, Cast, and many more nasty old bass groups used to fish out of his place. In Richland"s prime, boats would be backed up 1/4 mile or more down his road on any springtime weekend trying to get in the water. I think he has lost what little mind he ever had.
