Thanks Karl this was a very educational article. I know catch and release is the way to go but how we handle fish during the process can make a difference on the fish health. Many times it is best to leave the fish in the lake water while unhooking the fish, especially if we are fishing for fun.

Respect for the animal is the key in handling them. Good thought on keeping the fish in the water as long as possible. Some say to hold your breath when you pull the fish out of water & get it back into the water when you need to take another breath...
