Budget Cuts...

Just heard that the State is cutting the TPWD's budget by 30% for the next biennium. Roughly adds up to 300 employees getting their pink slips right off the bat...with more to follow.

Our friends at the Lewisville Aquatic Plant Research Facility received notice of a huge cut from the US ACof E budget last summer. The LAERF folks may not last the cuts.

Looks like our partners in the Lake Conroe Native Plant Restoration Project will have to tighten their belts a great deal.

Please keep them in your prayers.

Wait until you see how it impacts public education......

Major cuts coming in that area!!! The sad thing about is that your kids are the ones that suffer....reduced funding equals cuts in programs, reduction in teacher staff, larger class sizes, etc....

But according to that #%^*&^% in the White House the economy is getting better and unemployment is going down.
In my business I have seen a trend. Almost all of my spec home builders have stopped building inventory and are just doing custom homes for individuals. Over the past 3 years I have found that almost 80% of these individuals having homes built are working in the oil and gas field. In the same areas that these huge homes are being built there are foreclosure signs on the others. Not showing hate to these people in the oil & gas field (wish I worked there) but something has to be done quick because every time the fuel prices rise the "people" suffer and the oil companies have smiles on their faces. Another increase like back in 2007 (which is predicted to happen) will result in several of us in non-energy fields to end up in the soup lines.

Stressed!!

David- there were 1 million foreclosures in 2010..........this year they're expecting 5 million foreclosures, there do you feel better now?

No worries or stress if you have everything paid off.

I am in the oil and gas field, and it is OPEC that is the problem. Not our oil and gas fields. And overall it is OUR GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM..We have enough reserves we should not have to put up with OPECs crap. Believe me our oil and gas field holds us afloat in alot of jobs across the board.

Yeah, times are getting tough. As Merle Haggard once asked "Is the best of the free life behind us now, are the good times really over for good?"

Just last week I learned that my manager will now be someone in INDIA. For crying out loud... we've got plenty of folks here in the states that can do the work... But corporations only see that offshore workers are cheaper. They don't realize it's going to bite them in the butt in the long run.

I am afraid it is true what they say "Those that fail to learn from history are bound to repeat it." In the early days at Ford Motor company Henry Ford wondered why he didn't sell that many Model T's. Well, turns out that most American's couldn't afford them. So guess what he did... he started paying his factory workers and other employees enough so that they could afford the cars.

Today, I think we see that trend reversing with as many jobs as we are sending to other countries. Pretty soon we are all going to be scratching our heads and wondering why we can't sell the goods and services we produce any more. It's because we've cut so many jobs that people cannot buy things anymore. Nevermind the fact that teachers and education has been cut back so much that we will no longer have an educated workforce anymore.

Tough times are ahead... everyone hold on and pray that we make it through it and can come out a stronger nation as a result.
